This study aimed to investigate students¡¯ perceptions of creativity education in dental education and discuss its necessity. This study conducted an anonymous online self-report questionnaire to assess dental students¡¯ perceptions of creativity education for promoting professionalism, targeting students majoring in dentistry. For closed-type questions, frequency and percentage were calculated and analyzed, and for open-ended questions, the response content was analyzed using the Word Cloud program. Results showed that more than 60% of the respondents answered that creativity could be cultivated, and more than half responded positively to the necessity of creativity education. However, most questions received negative responses on the status of creativity enlightenment in dental college. For questions on dental education curriculum and creativity, evaluating ¡°projects such as experiments, practice, and presentations¡± and ¡°reports submission¡± is most helpful in demonstrating creativity. Students answered that the evaluation method needed improvement to promote the development of creativity. Factors that disturb creativity education showed a high response rate of almost half in the traditional teaching method adopted by teachers, an excessive number of class hours, learners¡¯ familiarity with traditional teaching, and a lack of programs that promote creativity. Thus, a specific and systematic dental education environment is necessary for promoting professionalism by improving evaluation methods and developing programs to improve instructors¡¯ teaching methods and enhance creativity.
